Malika Godamudunage, beloved wife of Kasun Imaduwage, devoted mother of Mayumi and Ayan Imaduwage, cherished daughter of P. G. Somawathie and the late G. G. Gunadasa, and loving sister of Prabath Godamudunage, passed away on March 26, 2025, at the age of 43.
Born in Kandy, Sri Lanka, Malika was a gifted scholar and researcher. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka, and was awarded a scholarship to pursue higher education in the United States. She earned her Ph.D. from New Mexico State University in 2014 and later conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Kansas and the University of Michigan. She then joined AbbVie as a Senior Scientist, where she made significant contributions until her passing.
Malika and her husband, Kasun, moved to the United States in 2008, where they built a beautiful life together. She was known for her kindness, strength, and unwavering commitment to family and community. A true friend to many, she touched the lives of those around her with warmth and generosity.
Malika’s legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered for her intelligence, resilience, and the love she shared with all.
May she attain supreme bliss of Nibbana!
