Davenport, Crystal Lake

Marcia Lynne Rodgers (nee Holik) age 75 of Crystal Lake, IL passed away peacefully on July 20th, 2022, in McHenry, IL. Despite many lifelong health issues, she showed strength, love, and a sense of humor that was cherished by her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend to many.

Marcia was born on June 2nd, 1947, in Chicago, Illinois to Melville and Mildred Holik. She grew up in Franklin Park, IL and graduated from East Leyden High School. She met the love of her life, David Lee Rodgers, in high school near the tennis courts and they were married on April 20th, 1968, in Des Plaines, IL. They were happily married for over 54 years.

Marcia was a homemaker and enjoyed raising her family in Crystal Lake. She always loved to cook and bake and was an avid cookbook collector. She had many other hobbies and interests including gardening, traveling, sewing, reading, crafting, and shopping while always making time for family and friends. Her shared love and appreciation for nature and the outdoors made Marcia and David a perfect match. Marcia attended the University of Illinois where she studied fashion and design. She used that aesthetic in her creative projects, decorating her home, and celebrating holidays with her family. She worked many years helping children thrive and learn at Canterbury elementary school. Marcia also worked at the Thoughtfulness Shop in Crystal Lake where she enjoyed helping others wrap a beautiful gift or pick out that perfect card.

Marcia is survived by her beloved husband, David, and by her two loving daughters: Heather Podgorski (William) of Kenosha, WI and Shannon Rodgers of Crystal Lake, IL.  and four cherished grandchildren: Jason, Jennifer, Tanner, and Tyler Podgorski. Marcia is also survived by her loving sister Marlene Holik of Bloomington IL. along with nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
