Marcianna Irene Durkin

Marcianna Irene Durkin, 83, of Crystal Lake passed away with her family by her side on Saturday, July 15, 2017.  She was born in Chicago on April 17, 1934 to Charles and Florence Gangala.

Marcy was a graduate of Alvernia High School, Chicago, class of 1952.  She  married Martin J. Durkin, Jr. on November 3, 1956.  He preceded her in death on September 9, 2003.

Marcy loved to travel and spend time with her family, especially her six grandchildren, and enjoyed her daily Sudoku puzzle.   She was a longtime volunteer at Senior Services Associates of Crystal Lake.

She is survived by her five children, Janet (Charles “Butch”) Keating, Michael (Gina) Durkin, Jeanne (Rick) Myers, Maureen (Joseph) D’Andrea, and Brian (Maureen) Durkin; six grandchildren, Jennifer, Mary Beth, Michael, Caroline, Julie, and Christopher; sister, Linda (Tom) Kowall, sisters-in-law, Maureen (Ted) Lucore, Peggy (Terry) Becker, and Mary Jule Durkin, and thirty nieces and nephews.

Marcy was preceded in death by her sisters, Alberta, Carol, Rosie, and Judy.

Visitation will be Monday, July 17, from 4 pm until 8 pm at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave., (Rte. 176), Crystal Lake.   Mass will be on Tuesday at 10 am at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 1023 McHenry Ave., Crystal Lake with a short visitation starting at the funeral home at 9 am.

She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery at a later date.
