Margaret H. Voase Frey, 94, formerly of Huntley, passed away Saturday, September 26, 2015, in Crystal Lake.
She was born April 7, 1921 in Chicago to Frank Skelnik and Mary Gruba.
Marge is survived by her adopted son, Christopher Voase; her step-children John, Joel, Mark, Mike Frey, and Mary Davidson; sister-in law, Dolores Santler; niece, Barbara Kearns (special friend, Martin Zwart), and many more nieces and nephews; great-nieces, Dr. Christa Velos (Dr. Sean Gibbs), Stephanie (Eduardo) Diaz; great-nephews, James Peter Velos, Jonathan Kearns, and many more; great-great nieces and nephews, Genavieve and Delilah Diaz, Addyson and Aiden Gibbs, and more.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Thomas “Bob” Voase and Eugene Frey; siblings, Florian Skelnik, Frank Skelnik, Genevieve Velos, Anthony “Tony” Skelnik, and Richard Skelnik; and her nephews, Robert Skelnik and James “Jim” Velos and niece Dolores Geis.
As a young woman Marge served in the Navy before beginning her long career in education. She taught at Barat College and in the Chicago School District until she retired at the age of 70. Then she opened the “Ye Olde School Store” in McHenry IL.
Marge loved traveling, boating, skiing, bowling, as well as playing cards and playing the slots.
Visitation will be held from 9:30-10:30a.m., Thursday, October 1, at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake, IL 60014, with a procession forming to St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 451 W. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake, IL 60014, for an 11a.m. mass. Burial will take place at Windridge Memorial Park, Cary following the mass.
