Margaret Kearns

December 26, 1996 — May 19, 2016

Margaret Ann “Maggie” Kearns took her last breath, 5:34 a.m. May 19, 2016, at Rush Hospital in Chicago following a stroke. She was born December 26, 1996 in Woodstock.

Maggie developed a passion for engineering from an early age beginning with building an elevator for her Barbies and Polly Pockets. She continued studying engineering with Project Lead the Way through high school and just finished her first year at U of I in the Engineering Program. She was a self-professed nerd and wore it as a badge of honor.

She loved camping, good books, time out on grandpa’s boat, Hover boards, going on adventures with friends, exploring the worlds of cosmetology and makeup artistry, and losing herself in dancing and music. Maggie was someone who genuinely cared about others, was always unapologetically herself and inspired so many people with her determination and perseverance to follow her dreams.

Maggie is survived by her parents, Ann and James Kearns, as well as, her sister and best bud, Bridget; her cousins Pat, Allie, Ryan, Erin, Sarah, Maria, Fiona, Megan, Abigail, Colleen, Nora, Dominick, and Eibhlin; her grandmothers, Margaret and Eileen; her aunts and uncles, Kathleen, Dan, Diana, Steve, Gina, Dominick, Emily, Mark, and Jennifer; and many good and loyal friends. She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Marvin and Jay; and her pet goldfish, Freddie.

Maggie’s family will be receiving friends from 3 PM until 8 PM on Thursday, May 26, at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E Terra Cotta Ave. (Rte 176), Crystal Lake. Her celebration mass will be Friday, May 27, at 10 AM at Resurrection Catholic Church, 2918 S Country Club Rd., Woodstock.
