Margaret Laisy

Crystal Lake, Illinois,MARGARET E. LAISY Margaret E. Laisy, 78, of Crystal Lake, passed away on Sunday, April 17, 2011 at her home. Born October 28, 1932 in Stockton, Illinois, she was the daughter of Herbert L. and Laura M (nee Morgan) Lahey. She married Thor A. Laisy on October 29, 1960 in Chicago; they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in October, 2010. After attending high school at Sinsinawa Catholic School in Wisconsin, she furthered her education at the University of Illinois and graduated from Rosary College in River Forest with a Bachelor?s Degree in Early Childhood Education. Her career in education spanned more than 30 years. She was a primary teacher in Chicago and worked in special education and taught at Thunderbird Nursery School in Crystal Lake for many years. A woman of many interests, she enjoyed painting, drawing, sewing, music (she played the guitar and piano), reading, birds, dogs, travel, camping, exercise and the outdoors. She was a long time member of the Catholic church. A very giving person, she volunteered at church and school and was a Camp Fire Girl troop leader. Margaret touched many lives through her teaching and volunteer work. Her greatest happiness was time spent with her husband, daughter and grandchildren. Survivors include her husband, Thor A. Laisy of Crystal Lake; her daughter, Laura Elizabeth Yelle of Crystal Lake; and her grandchildren, Joshua, Sarah and Zachary Yelle, all of Crystal Lake. She was preceded in death by her parents. The visitation will be from 4-8pm, Tuesday, April 19 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E Terra Cotta Ave (IL Rt 176), Crystal Lake. Prayers will be said at 9:30am, Wednesday, April 20 at the funeral home, with a procession to St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 451 W Terra Cotta Ave, Crystal Lake for a 10am Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
