Margaret Peters

Margaret Louise Peters ( nee Marlow), 95, of Murphysboro, passed away with the comfort of family on Friday, August 30th, 2013 at Rosewood Care Center in Inverness, Illinois.
She was born to James and Mary (nee Venegoni) Marlow in Herrin, Illinois, who later moved and made their wonderful home and life in Murphysboro, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph William Beach and her second husband, Dale E. Peters. She is also preceded in death by her sister, Vivian Presley Stallings.
She is survived by her four children, Joseph B. Peters of Carlyle, Illinois, Anita Veech of Denver, Colorado, Marlow Hoyer of Elkhart, Indiana and Lynn Topping of Barrington Hills, Illinois; grandchildren, Dennis Kortkamp of Las Vegas, Nevada, Nicholas and Lacey Veech of Denver, Colorado, Kyle Peters of Carlyle, Illinois, Jared Peters of O’Fallon, Illinois and Cody Topping of Barrington Hills, Illinois; nieces and nephews, Kay Schlarmann of Breese, Illinois, Pat Lewis of Anna, Illinois, Pam Doctor of Clayton, Missouri and Jim Peters of Melbourne, Florida; great nieces and nephews, Mary Margaret Hardesty of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Jackie Rader of Chesapeake, Virginia and John Duhasek of Carlyle, Illinois.
Margaret attended Fontbonne University in St. Louis, and pursued a Liberal Arts degree in acting. She performed in numerous plays and musicals and had a passion for the arts.
She made her home in Murphysboro where she was a homemaker and active member in her community. She donated her time on the board of the Sallie Logan Public Library, a member of St Andrews Church, Illinois World Organization of China Painters and the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW. She was a talented China and Oil Painter and loved painting with her friends. She had a voracious appetite for reading and would be found frequenting the library on a regular basis. Her passion for movies stemmed from growing up around her father’s two movie theaters.
Margaret was blessed with loving and dear friends and had a wonderful group of women who she played cards with. Her “Bunch for Lunch Club” was and remains a group of friends who turned ordinary lunch into a social gathering.
Her enormous personality, wealth of kindness, friendly smile and a gift for telling wonderful stories will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
