Margaret C. Thom, 92, long-time resident of Cedarburg, Wisconsin, passed away Sunday, March 18, 2012 in Crystal Lake, Illinois, surrounded by loving family members.
Born on July 1, 1919 in Walhalla, North Dakota, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Agnes Shambaugh.
After graduating from high school in Walhalla, she farmed in Neche, North Dakota with her husband, Walter, until the time of his death in 1965. She then relocated her family to Cedarburg, Wisconsin.
For over 20 years, Margaret was employed in Grafton, Wisconsin. She was an active member of Crossroads Presbyterian Church in Mequon and enjoyed quilting, gardening, reading, and participating in community activities. She dearly loved her family and cherished spending time with them.
Margaret is survived by her loving children, Robert (Claudia) Thom of Ripon, WI, Terrence (Sharon) Thom of Waukesha, WI, and Susan (Douglas) Steltz of Barrington, IL; her adored grandchildren, Jason, Sahnya, and Alicia Thom, Joslyn Callegari, Anina Reinhart, Christopher, Justin, and Casey Thom, and David, Peter, and Margaret Steltz; twelve cherished great-grandchildren; five siblings, Faye Williams, Beth Olafson, and Dallas, Don, and Charles Shambaugh; and many loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, her husband, her parents, and six siblings, Lorena Thom, and Keith, Deane, Richard, Scott, and George Shambaugh.
The Memorial Visitation will be held at 1pm followed by the Memorial Service at 2pm, Saturday, March 31, 2012 at Crossroads Presbyterian Church, 6031 West Chapel Hill Road, Mequon, WI. Friends and family are invited to a reception after the service.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date at the Neche Union Cemetery in Neche, North Dakota.
