Margaret "Maggie" E. (Cowlin) Lucchetti

Margaret Elizabeth Lucchetti, 56, of Crystal Lake passed away peacefully on February 21, 2019, at home surrounded by her family after a courageous 7 year battle with cancer.

Maggie was born June 2, 1962 to the Honorable Henry and Mary Cowlin. She was a 1980 graduate of Crystal Lake South, and after attending MCC, she spent the next 34 years married to the love of her life Michael Lucchetti. Together they enjoyed a wonderful family life with their children Michael (Laura), Allisa (Mike) Opels, and Matthew; and their four grandchildren Reagan, Adelyn, and Evelyn Lucchetti and River Opels.

A lifelong resident of Crystal Lake, Maggie was always willing to lend a hand in the community.  She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church, the Crystal Lake Chamber of Commerce, and worked with the Crystal Lake Gala committee. Always the hard worker starting with her first job at the Tastee Freeze, Maggie went to have successful careers in jewelry and as a Broker Associate with Baird & Warner Real Estate.

Maggie enjoyed a fine glass of wine, a good book, going to Main Beach, and just relaxing on her back porch.  An avid traveler, Maggie just recently took the trip of a lifetime to Europe.

She lived life with grace and elegance, and following her diagnosis the courage she showed was an inspiration to all who knew her.

Along with her husband, children and grandchildren, Maggie is survived by her siblings: Mary (Harvey) Reitinger, Emily (Peter) Preston, Hon. James (Lynn) Cowlin, Thomas (Kelly) Cowlin; many nieces and nephews; and her best friend, Renee McClain.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Henry Cowlin.

A memorial visitation will be on Sunday, February 24, from 3pm until 7pm at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave. (Rte. 176), Crystal Lake.   Visitation will continue at the funeral home Monday morning, February 25, from 10am until the time of prayers at 10:30am.  Mass will follow at 11am at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 451 W. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake.  Burial will follow at Windridge Memorial Park, Cary.
