Barrington, Illinois,Marjorie L. Frankenberg of Barrington, Illinois A memorial service for Marge Frankenberg will be held on Friday, April 16th at 3:00pm at the Presbyterian Church of Barrington, 6 Brinker Road, Barrington, IL 60010. Born on January 17th, 1932 in Chicago, she died Friday April 9th, 2010 at Good Shepherd Hospital with family by her side. Marge was raised in Chicago and Michigan and graduated from Niles Center High School in 1949. A proud member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority, she attended Beloit College where she found the love of her life Bob Frankenberg. They first met during her freshman year on a winter break ski trip and later married on May 23, 1953. Together they enjoyed over 55 wonderful years of marriage filled with love and laughter. Marge spent the next several years supporting her husband and raising her three children. Later on she worked with her dear friend Jean Stahr at Little Shop of Papers and remained involved in community affairs. After her son Blake passed away in a tragic plane crash at the age of nineteen, she was a dedicated member of a support group for parents who lost children called Compassionate Friends. She was devoted to helping other parents get through the grieving process and found comfort in knowing she was able to help others deal with such a tragic situation and find a way to carry on in a positive way. In her later years, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends while playing golf and bridge at Barrington Hills Country Club. Her witty sense of humor always garnered a laugh and brought great delight to anyone in the room. She moved to the Garlands of Barrington after Bob passed away where she made many new friends.. Throughout it all she was able to share her smile and youthful spirit with all who were fortunate to spend time with her. She was a wonderful woman who taught us the things most important in life. Compassion for others, loyalty to friends and family, never take yourself too seriously, laughter is the greatest medicine and that love, friendship and compassionate concern for others are what really bring fulfillment and joy to our lives. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts. She was preceded in death by her husband Bob and her son Blake. She was the beloved mother of Bruce (Kari) and Blair (Sheryl), devoted grandmother of Reid, Kate, Haley and Ross, and loving sister of Chuck Lind and sister-in-law Joyce Frankenberg. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Presbyterian Church of Barrington, 6 Brinker Road, Barrington, IL 60010 (www.pcbarrington.org).
