Mariam “Mimi” Adams (nee Tritt), passed in peace on December 25th at the age of 79. She will be remembered by her brother Tedd, her children Jonathan, Ted, Susie, and Luke and by her 9 grandchildren who were “Nana’s” pride and joy.
Mimi was born in East Chicago, Indiana and spent much of her childhood in Redlands, California. Although she always remembered her childhood home fondly, Mimi spent 50 years in her beloved adopted hometown of Evanston, Illinois. Mimi was happiest reading the newspaper in her chair by the fire, listening to classical music on WFMT, and baking delicious pies for her family and friends. She was a dedicated member of Saint Luke's Episcopal Church over the 50 years she lived in Evanston. She spent much of her professional life in administrative work for the Church, serving three parishes in Evanston. Always ready with a quiet smile, her curiosity, her warmth, and her goodness will be remembered and greatly missed.
A private burial will be held and then a celebration of Mimi’s life will take place on January 5 at 10:30 AM at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 939 Hinman Avenue, Evanston, IL 60202.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Greater Chicago Food Depository, 4100 W. Ann Lurie Place, Chicago, IL 60632, www.chicagosfoodbank.org , in recognition of Mimi's ongoing concern for the hungry.
