Marie Herman

Marie Gloria Herman, 91, of Woodstock, was born on June 29, 1924 in Chicago to Salvatore and Rose (nee Perry) Galiano. She passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at Bickford Assisted Living in Crystal Lake.

Marie was a high school teacher at Jones Commercial High School in Chicago and East Lyden High School in Franklin Park until her retirement. She was a member of the women’s club at Resurrection Catholic Church, as well as a member of the women’s club at the Glen Catholic Church in Baraboo, WI, holding many positions.

Marie is survived by her sister, Jean (Martin) Canello; her step-son, Richard Herman; her niece, Diana (Kevin) Aranyi; her nephew, Daniel (Tami) Conforti; her great nieces and nephews, Amanda Aranyi, Danielle (Neal) Sherman, and Nicholas (Ashley) Conforti; her great, great nephew, Cillian Sherman; and her step-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, John Cangiano; her second husband, Aldolph Herman; and her sister, LaVerne (Anthony) Conforti.

Visitation will be held from 3-9pm, Friday, May 13, 2016 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake, IL. Prayers will be said at 9:15am, Saturday, May 14, 2016 at the funeral home proceeding to Resurrection Catholic Church, 2918 S. Country Club Rd., Woodstock, IL for funeral Mass at 10am. Interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
