The funeral service for Marie Ruth Lohman (nee Berghorn), 92, will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, August 3, at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St. (Lake-Cook Road), Barrington. Pastor Jana Chwalisz will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Barrington.

The visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., Friday, August 2, at the funeral home.

Born September 28, 1920, in Barrington, she passed away Monday, July 29, 2013, at Northwest Community Healthcare in Arlington Heights.

Mrs. Lohman grew up on her family’s farm, which was located in Barrington, and was a 1938 graduate of Lake Zurich High School. She worked for over 40 years as an operator and supervisor for Illinois Bell/ATT in Barrington and then Chicago. Mrs. Lohman enjoyed deep-sea fishing with her husband in Key West, FL, where she won awards for some of the fish she caught, and spending time in Algoma, WI. She enjoyed entertaining and having her family around.

Survivors include her grandsons, Dwight and Douglas Lohman of Lake Zurich; sister, Helen Lohman of Barrington; and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Lohman was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd; son, Lynn; parents, Wilbur and Ruth (nee Peterson) Berghorn; and brother, Willard Berghorn.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mrs. Lohman’s name may be made to St. Peter United Church of Christ, 47 Church St., Lake Zurich, IL 60047.
