Mark N. Makinen

Mark Makinen, 52, of Oakwood Hills, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, April 18, 2021.

On July 23, 1994, Mark was united in marriage to Tracy Witt in Glenview, IL.

In addition to his loving wife, Tracy, Mark is survived by his son, Mikey; parents, Matti and Helmi Makinen; sister, Raija Weiershauser; in-laws, Rick and Alice Witt, Ricky (Ginny) Witt, Rusty (Elizabeth) Witt; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Tuula.

Early on, Mark enjoyed Cub and Boy Scouts, achieving Eagle Scout. He enjoyed sports, boating, loved the ocean and traveling, and was of the Catholic faith. Mark was the branch general manager of Safety-Kleen in Elgin, IL.

Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 451 W Terra Cotta Ave (Rt. 176) Crystal Lake. Interment will be held privately in Tennessee at a later date.
