Marlene Marczyk

June 25, 1936 — July 2, 2014

Marlene Diane (Jastrab) Marczyk, 78, of Barrington, Illinois, died Wednesday, July 2, 2014 in Barrington. Born June 25, 1936 she is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Emilia (Ulicny) Jastrab.
Marlene’s family was everything to her; she and her husband, Bruno enjoyed spending time with their children and grandchildren watching and following their numerous activities. Marlene was a devout woman who cherished her relationship with Jesus, our Lord. Marlene had a special love for the Blessed Mother and since honeymooning in Mexico, Marlene and Bruno had chosen Our Lady of Guadalupe as a favorite. Marlene spent many years attending daily mass and first Saturday devotions with her many close friends at St Anne’s Parish. As part of her ministry to the church, for many years, Marlene tended to the Sacristy along with visiting the residents at Alden house and serving as an Ecumenical minister.
Marlene enjoyed gardening and had a creative knack. She had quite a talent for floral arranging and centerpiece design. For many years she decorated the reception hall at the St Anne’s RCIA celebrations. Along with her love of gardening, Marlene also loved wildlife and animals. Not a squirrel or bird went unfed who visited the backyard. Throughout the years, many a dog was a household pet all who were famously attached to Marlene. Marlene’s talents also extended into the kitchen where she deftly prepared meals for her family members and get-togethers. Meals were always delicious and plentiful- guests never left hungry. Marlene loved to read and was known to collect articles on DIY, recipes or how-to topics but her favorite reading materials were the books and periodicals describing the lives of the religious.
Marlene is survived by her loving husband of 56+ years, Bruno Marczyk; children, Lynn(Michael ) Greis, Lisa(Michael) Haller, Debra(Carl) Rohde, Russ (Diane) Marczyk, and Robert(Janet) Marczyk; grandchildren, Kellen, Corrine and William Greis, Stephanie(Ryan) Mollenhauer, Jack Haller, Gabrielle and Justin Rohde, Joshua and Gina Gaytan, and Matthew, Joseph and Daniel Marczyk, sister-in-law, Roberta Sexton, and niece, Jennifer (Robert) Grganto, grandniece, Alexandra Grganto and grandnephews, Robert and Gavin Grganto. She is also survived by her many dear cousins.
