Our dear Marsha Ann Evenson (Hadden), of Crystal Lake, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at the age of 67, surrounded by her family.
She is survived by her loving husband, Mark; her daughters, Beth Saip (Matt) and Jill Flesch (John); and her son, Don Evenson (Emily). She was the cherished grandmother of Ella, Kiley, Jake, Connor, Luke, Emily, Jack, and Ida. Marsha is also survived by her brothers, Paul Hadden (Wendy) and Jeff Hadden. Her beloved dogs, Lucy and Molly, and her grand-kitty, Nala, also held a special place in her heart. She was preceded in death by her parents, Shirley and Paul Hadden.
Marsha’s family was her greatest joy and proudest achievement.
Marsha was a graduate of Maine West High School, where she was a talented first-chair violinist. She graduated early to pursue a modeling career. Soon after, in May of 1978, she met the love of her life, Mark. They were married on January 13, 1979, during the Great Chicago Blizzard. She was a stunning bride, and no one who attended the wedding will ever forget it.
The couple enjoyed a life filled with family and friends, and Marsha became a mother of three by the age of 27. At 30, she was diagnosed with lupus, a condition that would affect her health for the rest of her life. Despite her medical challenges, Marsha was known for her strength, resilience, and devotion to her family.
Marsha was a loving and involved mother, not only to her own children but to the neighborhood kids and her children’s friends, many of whom affectionately called her their “second mom.” This nurturing spirit carried over into her role as a grandmother, where she endlessly doted on her grandchildren, attending all their events—big and small. Marsha’s love for others knew no bounds. She was a constant source of support, kindness, and care for everyone around her.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 2pm until 6pm on Sunday, February 2 at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory. The service will begin at 3pm.
In honor of Marsha, please wear something purple! It was her favorite color and we’d like this to not be dark and dreary as she was such a bright and cheerful person.
If butterflies could fly to heaven, they would bring my love to you and yours right back to me 💜
