Marvin Dycus

Marvin (Bear) Edward Dycus passed away peacefully Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2016, surrounded by his family.

Bear was born May 21, 1928 in Lyons County, Kentucky to Doyle and Birdie Baldwin Dycus. Bear served in the military, stationed in Japan. He married Ruth Bluemel on August 25, 1954 in Woodstock, IL.

He is survived by his loving wife; sons, Patrick (Mary) Kilroy and Michael (Cathy) Dycus; 7 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Juanita Dycus, Peggy Dycus, Helga Hahn, and Karin Schacht; brothers-in-law, William Hahn and Reiner Lindner; and many nieces and nephews.

Bear retired from Eaton Corp. after 33 years of service. He had a strong affection for gardening and canning, pinochle, and watching the Bulls, St. Louis Cardinals, and college basketball.

Bear was preceded in death by three sisters, Virginia, Julia, and Edna; and four brothers, Clifton, Hewlett, Jake, and Russell.

Services will be held Saturday Nov. 5, 2016 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Union, IL. Visitation will be held from 9-11am with a service at 11am with Pastor Caleb Schauer officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Journey Care in Woodstock and St. John’s Lutheran Church are welcome.

The family would like to thank all those who were there to care for him and the many providing support.
