Crystal Lake, Illinois,Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Brandes Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Brandes, 92, of Crystal Lake, passed away peacefully January 6, 2010, at home surrounded by her family and friends. Born, August 19, 1918, to Joseph J. and Elizabeth M. (nee Howell) Jaster, she was a life-long resident of Crystal Lake. Betty loved times spent with her family, traveling with her husband, sewing and hand work. She was a long time member of the Catholic Churches of Crystal Lake, and was very proud of her family?s contribution to the Crystal Lake community over the years. Her survivors include her cherished husband of 62 years Clayton; loving children, Greg (Teri Simoneau), Beth (Paul) Anderson; adored grandchildren, John Brandes, Kristine (Brian) Girskis and Kelly Anderson and great-grandson Jack Girskis; and sister, Marjorie Mueller. Betty was preceded in death by her parents. Visitation will be held from 4-8pm, Sunday, January 9 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E Terra Cotta Ave. (Rt. 176), Crystal Lake. Visitation will continue at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 1023 S McHenry Ave, Crystal Lake on Monday, January 10 from 9am until the 10am Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow at Crystal Lake Memorial Park.
