Mary Ellen Wagener

Mary Ellen Wagener left us unexpectedly and peacefully in her sleep in Lake Zurich,Illinois at the age of 61. Mary Ellen is survived by her brother John (Mary Beth) of Green Oaks, Illinois; her nieces and nephew, Ashley (Mike), Caitlin (Tim) and Thomas; and her great nephews Asher and Callum. Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Mary Wagener of Libertyville, Illinois.

Mary Ellen was born on June 1, 1961 in Chicago, Illinois and attended Orchard School in Skokie, Illinois, and the Julia Molly Education Center in Morton Grove, Illinois. Upon graduation she moved to Lambs Farm in Green Oaks, Illinois and lived there for over 35 years while working in a variety of jobs on the Farm including at the Restaurant, Silk Screen Shop and Country Store. Mary Ellen transitioned later in life to Mount St. Joseph in Lake Zurich, Illinois. Mary Ellen loved regular Sunday dinner visits with her family, riding her bicycle, and various Arts & Crafts projects, including hook rugs.

Mount St. Joseph is an Intermediate Care Facility for women with intellectual and developmental disabilities operated by the Daughters of Saint Mary of Providence, an international congregation who live out the mission and spirit of their founder Saint Louis Guanella.
