Mary B. (Beatty) Englert

Mary Irene (Beatty) Englert, born June 2nd, 1924, currently of Sun City, Huntley, IL, passed away on Friday, April 29, 2022.   She was born in Atkins, Iowa to James and Mable (Moubry) Beatty.

During WWII, Mary rolled bandages for the Red Cross.  She attended the University of Iowa and upon graduation in 1944, moved to Hyde Park where she enjoyed her time working in Chicago.

She met the love of her life, Joseph A. Englert (passed 1995), and they were married on July 7th, 1951, and started their family on the south side of Chicago.  They moved to Westchester, IL, in 1967 where they raised their family.

Mary worked most of her adult life as an insurance claims adjuster for Allstate, but was primarily devoted to her four children.  She and Joe worked hard to make sure that all of their children had a solid education. She loved to travel, garden, collect owl figurines, but mostly loved being with her grandchildren. Trips to Brookfield Zoo with the grandkids always delighted her. During her long life, she enjoyed her continually growing family. Visiting with her great-grandchildren always brought a smile to her face. Her pies were the world’s best according to her kids and grandkids!

Mary is survived by her children, Ellen, Matthew (Rosi), Mark (Judy), and John (Lorie); grandchildren, Susan (Joseph) Townsend, Laura (Erik) Eccles, James (Amanda), Christopher, Marisa, and Samantha (Zackery Yoder); and great grandchildren, Makayla and Emily Townsend, Ella and Eli Eccles, Jackson and Lucas Englert.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Alta Nappi, John Beatty, and Howard Beatty.

A visitation will be on Saturday, May 7, from 10 am until the time of a service at 12 noon at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mary’s name can be made to the American Cancer Society .
