Mary E. Foley

Mary Elizabeth Foley, age 89, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at home surrounded by her loving family. Mary was born on May 5, 1935 in Ashland, WI to Vance and Gladys Flynn Blahnik. She married James M Foley on July 12, 1958 in Ashland. They were married for 64 years until Jim’s passing in 2023. 

Mary and Jim raised four daughters in Woodstock, IL. She retired as manager of McHenry County Schools Federal Credit Union in 1997 after 25 years of service. Mary loved helping people and found her job to be very rewarding in that regard. In 1999 she and her husband moved to Normal, IL. There, they were members of Epiphany Catholic Church for 24 years and made many friends whom they treasured. One of Mary’s most outstanding qualities was her devotion to God and her faithful prayers for others. She was a kind, wise, and loving person and a wonderful mother and wife. Mary cherished her family and friends and loved them to the end. 

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, brother John Blahnik, nephews Kevin Blahnik, Richard and Robert Borowick, niece MaryAnn Thompson, and all of her beloved brothers and sisters in laws.

Survivors include four daughters, Beth (Michael) Lohmeyer of Crystal Lake, Jean Foley of Crystal Lake, Susan (Bill) Kaliher of Normal, and Sarah (Kevin) Rein of Crystal Lake; five grandchildren, Matthew (Bridget) Lohmeyer, Sean (fiancé Morgan Parcel) Lohmeyer, Kristopher (Rachel Bergsieker) Kaliher, Emily Rein and Adam Rein. Mary is also survived by her brother Thomas Blahnik of Washburn, WI and many nieces and nephews. 

A memorial mass will be held Friday, November 8, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at St Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 451 W Terra Cotta Ave, Crystal Lake, IL, 60014.
