Mary S. Jarvis, of Crystal Lake, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully on September 30, 2020. She was born on August 24, 1930 to Michael and Sophia (nee Bennettos) Linaris.
Mary was a generous, loving, hardworking woman, employed at GOULD for 30 years, and Pittman Moore for a time as well. She was an early founder of St. Peter’s, helping in all areas with sacrifice and love when they decided to start the mission at the Holiday Inn. She opened her home for one of their first Pascha Dinners, served as treasurer, and other duties that required energy, diligence and attention to detail. Mary loved to sew and listen to her children and grandchildren sing; watching them perform was a joy of hers.
Mary will be deeply missed by her beloved husband, Robert, to whom she had been married 30 years; children; Mike James (Roberta James), Jamie James (Glenn Brown), David Jarvis (Cyndi Jarvis), Joy McGill (Jose McGill), Harry Jarvis (Connie Jarvis); grandchildren; Stephanie Brown, Samantha Brown, Coral Jarvis, Nicole Jarvis, Brice Jarvis, Samantha Jarvis, Sierra McGill, Savanna McGill, as well as many loving, nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her first husband, Frederick James, to whom she was married for 26 years.
Visitation will be Wednesday, October 7, 2020, from 3PM until 8 PM at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave. (Rte. 176), Crystal Lake, IL 60014. Visitation will resume on Thursday at Saint Nectarios Greek Orthodox Church, 133 S. Roselle Rd, Palatine from 9 AM until time of funeral service at 10 AM. Interment to follow at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Palatine. Social distancing and masks will be our shared practice at the funeral home and at church. The church will accommodate up to 90 attendees, please call the funeral home if you are planning to attend the funeral service, 815-459-3411.
