Barrington, Illinois,

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary “Delores” Lobraico (nee Rose),94, formerly of Chicago, will be held at 9 a.m., Friday, September 9, at St. Anne Church, 120 Ela St. (at the corner of Franklin Street), Barrington.  Burial will be in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside.

The visitation will be from 4-6 p.m., Thursday, September 8, at the Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St. (Lake-Cook Road), Barrington.

Born August 10,1917, in Hardin, IL, she passed away Sunday, September 4,2011, in Barrington.

Delores grew up in various small towns that hugged the Illinois River.  The river proved to be an integral part of her life as it supported the Rose family barge business. She graduated from High School in Ottawa, IL. She  completed her nurses’ training and her state boards at the Mary Thompson Women and Children’s Hospital in Chicago.  Following her training, Delores worked at the University of Illinois Research and Education Hospital, where Rocco, her future husband, was also completing his medical degree.  She enrolled in the Red Cross Nursing Service and was a Reserve Nurse for the Navy Nurse Corps. The couple worked at Gorgas Memorial Hospital in the Panama Canal Zone  during WW II, and were married there.  The end of the war brought the Lobraicos back to Chicago where they lived for 46 years, raising their five children.

Delores enjoyed reading the Bible and the Wall Street Journal, following the stock market, traveling, visiting the Chicago Botanic Gardens, working on jig saw puzzles and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her children, Charles (Pia), Carolyn (Rick) Kaup, Gloria (Bill) Perlitz, Mary Ellen (Michael) Cushman, and Anita (Joshua) Ollinger; grandchildren, Andrea (Michael) Philippart, Laura (Paul) Malinasky, Tracy (Joseph III) Kearney, Tanya (Michael) Kaup-Spicer, William Perlitz, Jr., Anne Marie (Andrew) Blaustein, Michael (Susanne) Cushman, and Jessica and Aimee Ollinger; great-grandchildren, Ava and Adison Philippart, Emma Malinasky, Charles, William and Joseph IV Kearney, Walker and Bennett Blaustein, and Teagan Cushman; siblings, Joseph (Gloria) Rose and Jeanette Rose; sisters-in-law, Edna Rose and Julia Lobraico; and nephews and niece, Barry (Susie) Rose, Mark (Debbie) Rose, and Cindy (Steve) Yeargan.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Rocco V. Lobraico; and brother, Earl Rose.
