Mary Ann Matouski

Born September 24, 1921 in Dubuque, Iowa, she passed away peacefully May 2, 2015 in Brookeville, Maryland.

Mary was born on a farm in Dubuque, Iowa and moved to Chicago as a young child. When her mother passed away when she was a teenager, she took on the responsibility of managing the family household, which included caregiving for her Grandpa, father, siblings and occasional boarders. She enjoyed being a homemaker caring for her four children and enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren. Mary was well-known for hosting the annual family Christmas parties with warmth and love in her home. She enjoyed crafts for which many family members were recipients -- especially her beautiful painted ceramic Christmas pieces. Mary enjoyed working on crossword puzzles and loved a good joke! Mary was a special mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend!

Mary Ann is survived by her children; Paul D. Jr. (Carole) Matouski of Cary, IL; Natalie (Mark) Karney of Barrington, IL; Valarie (John) Lane of Brookeville, MD, and daughters-in-law, Elaine Matouski and Sue Matouski; grandchildren; Michele (Rick) Teel, Renee (William) Norberg, Denise (Elliot) Whitefield, Laura (John) Cison, Paul D. Matouski,IV, Jared (Isabella) Karney, Jeffrey (Amie) Karney, Kevin (Katherine) Karney, Hilary, Bianca, Erin, and John Paul Lane, Julian (Samantha) Vasquez, and Helena (James) Moffat; great-grandchildren, Ryan and Austin Teel, Kyle, Eric, and Lindsey Norberg, Ashley and Robert Whitefield, John Jr., Bryce, and Julia Cison, Jordan, Ella, and Zac Vasquez, and Cyan and Lucian Helt.

She was preceded in death by her husband Paul during their 70th year of marriage, son Frederick, and grandson Paul D Matouski, III .

Visitation will be held from 5-9pm Thursday, May 7 at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 149 W. Main St. (Lake-Cook), Barrington.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10am, Friday, May 8 at St. Anne Catholic Church, 120 N. Ela St.,Barrington, where there will be visitation from 9am until the time of the mass. Entombment in All Saints Catholic Cemetery will follow the mass.
