Mary Stachura

March 16, 1923 — December 20, 2014

Mary Rose Stachura, 91, of Bartlett, died Saturday, December 20, 2014, at St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates.

She was born on March 16, 1923, to Joseph and Rose Pillis, in Schachendorf, Burgenland, Austria.

Mary retired from Kemper Insurance in Long Grove where she worked as an administrative assistant in the president’s office. Her first job after high school was working at Montgomery Wards and later as a sales clerk at the Alamo Shop, both in Chicago.

Mary loved to travel and enjoyed social get-togethers, loving whenever she could spend time with friends and family. She adored her three granddaughters, attending as many activities of theirs that she possibly could, and especially enjoying their dance performances and art exhibits. Mary was a loving person who had a kind and generous heart and will be missed by many.

She was a devote Catholic and active member of Our Lady of the Angels Church in Chicago, and when she moved to Barrington in 1970, was a member of St. Anne Church. Mary later retired to St. Francis Village in Ft. Worth, Texas in 1985 where she was one of their most enthusiastic volunteers. When she moved back to Illinois in 2008, ‘Mary Rose’ became a resident of the Clare Oaks Retirement Community, attending mass in the Sacred Heart Chapel where her services will be held on Friday.

Mary Rose is survived by her loving son and daughter-in-law, John and Evelyn Stachura; loving granddaughters, Anna, Heather, and Kelly Stachura; dear sister-in-law, Mary Pillis; nieces, nephews, grand nieces, and grand nephews, cousins, and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 27 years, Max Stachura; their beloved son, Mark Stachura; her dear sisters, Anna Petrokovitch, and Lillian Schlaffer; and her dear brother, Steve Pillis.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the mass at 10:30 a.m., Friday, December 26, 2014, at Sacred Heart Chapel at Clare Oaks, 801 Carillon Drive, Bartlett, IL 60103.

Burial will be held at Saint Adalbert Catholic Cemetery, Niles following the mass.
