Mary "Betsy" (Ross) Vargason

Mary “Betsy” Vargason, 82, passed away peacefully November 19, 2021. She was born May 5, 1939 in Chicago to William and Mary Ross.

Mary was a graduate of Crystal Lake Community Central High School. She was active in the American Legion Auxiliary as past county unit president, membership chairman and treasurer.  Mary also served as treasurer of the Boxer Rebound Animal Rescue.

Mary is survived by her children, John, James, and Diana Peterson; stepdaughter, Valerie Klapperich; stepson, Robert (Susan) Vargason; grandchildren, Rachel Krawczyk, Sarah Klapperich(Ryan Gerry), Ross (Kayla) Peterson, Kimberly Vargason, Angela Jones, and James Dean (Yasimine) Peterson; and great grandchildren, Clara, Eli, Gabe, Kyle, Chloe, Emma, and Oliver; and brother, William Wallace Ross IV.  She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 47 years, and her parents.

Memorial services will be held at 11am, Wednesday, November 24 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave. (Route 176), Crystal Lake.
