Mary Kay Van Acker, 65, of Cary, passed away on September 15, 2023. She was born on March 9, 1958, to Earl and Jean Huff in Harvard, IL.
On February 25, 1977, Mary Kay married the love of her life, Steve Van Acker. Both Mary Kay and Steve grew up in McHenry County, and they chose to make it their forever home.
Mary Kay found joy in the simple things in life. She had a passion for traveling, with Las Vegas and Mexico being some of her favorite destinations. She appreciated the beauty of nature, relished the changing seasons, and often found solace in the great outdoors, whether she was reading a book or simply enjoying a beautiful day. Most of all, Mary Kay cherished the time spent with her beloved grandson, Jace, and the close-knit circle of family and friends who meant the world to her.
She had a knack for finding happiness in the everyday, lovingly decorating her home for every season, with a special fondness for Christmas. Dining out and exploring new places during her travels brought her great joy.
Mary Kay dedicated 23 years of her career to Kemper Insurance and, more recently, spent 18 years at Aon Insurance, where she made lasting professional connections.
She is survived by her husband, Steve; son, Jason, and adored grandson, Jace. Mary Kay is also survived by her sisters, Cathy Schiller and Donna (Scott) Limbaugh; her mother-in-law, Patricia Van Acker; sisters-in-law, Lori (Dave) Wille and Valerie (Rodney) Hisel; and brother-in-law, Tim (Trish) Van Acker, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
