The Mass of Christian Burial for Mercedes “Merce” LaBounty (nee Weldon), 91, formerly of Niles and Park Ridge, will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 16, at St. Anne Church, 120 Ela St., Barrington, IL 60010, where there will be visitation from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines.
Born July 24, 1921, in Chicago, she passed away Sunday, March 10, 2013, in Farmington, CT.
Proud of her athletic prowess, Mrs. LaBounty was the 1938 captain of the St. Scholastica Academy tennis team and graduated in 1939. She excelled in bowling, and enjoyed golf, quilting, needlework and Notre Dame Football. Mrs. LaBounty had been a member of the Barrington Hills Country Club and St. Anne Church.
She was the devoted mother of Karen (Larry) Olin, Janet Walters, Gordon (Kathleen) LaBounty, Jr., Catherine Nicholson, Ginger (Jeff) Carter, Mary (Paul) Kinyon, Michelle (Robert) Peart, and Leslie (Jacopo) Leonardi; and grandmother of 32; and great-grandmother of 29.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Gordon S. LaBounty Sr. in 2008; parents, William and Emma (nee Houska); brothers, Bernard, Robert, Richard, Walter; and sisters, Alice Midland, Eileen Prahl and Virginia Renninger.
