Michael J. Marotta

Michael J. Marotta, 76, of Crystal Lake, was born June 17, 1942 in Evanston to Samuel and Alice (nee Guest) Marotta. He passed away Monday, December 31, 2018 in Huntley.

Michael was a resident of Crystal Lake for 50 years. He was the previous owner of a Culligan franchise and Labemi’s in Crystal Lake. He was a proud member of the Rotary Club. He was also a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. Michael enjoyed spending his time golfing, traveling, reading and was an avid road tripper, making it to all 48 states in the continuous USA. He was a history buff and had vast trivia knowledge. Michael enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.

Michael is survived by his former wife, Doris (nee Riddle) Marotta and their children, Sallie (Steven) DeAngeles, Amy (Steven) Bodner, and Ann Marotta; his grandchildren, Pamela (Kevin) Walsh, Amanda (Matt White) DeAngeles, Ashley (Corey Hickman) DeAngeles, Anthony Bodner, Izabella Bodner, Michaela Donner, Madeline Donner, Canon Donner, Brody Donner, and Vivian Donner; his great grandchildren, Emerson and Marty Walsh; his brothers, Mark Marotta, and Paul (Terri) Marotta; and his step siblings, Mary (Dennis) Kreeger, Ken Grubb, John (Amy Berringer) Grubb, and Robert (Julie) Grubb.

He is preceded in death by his grandson, Max Liptrot; his brother, Dennis (Marie) Marotta; and his parents.

A memorial visitation will be held from 12pm-2pm with a memorial service beginning at 1pm, Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake. Interment private.
