Biography

Michael E. “Mike” McKenzie, 52,of Marengo, formerly of Delaware, Ohio, passed away suddenly on Thursday, September 11, 2014. He was born October 31, 1961, in Columbus, Ohio to Cloyce “Doc” and Bonnie (Wise) McKenzie.

Mike graduated from Delaware Hayes High School and went on to receive degrees in electrical aviation electronics as well as his FCC radio and telephone operator's license.

On May 23, 1987, he married Gina Moore in Crystal Lake.

Mike was the owner of Mike's Electrical Contracting and also worked as the pool and spa electrical contractor for Meier's Outdoor World of Fox Lake.

Mike loved his life. He loved his work, but mostly he loved his wife,
sons, dogs and family. He also enjoyed watching the Bears and
having a cold beer after a long day at work. He will be greatly missed
by all who loved and relied on him.

Besides his parents and wife, Gina, Mike is survived by his three
sons, Michael, Ryan, and Richard; brother, David (Julie); three
grandchildren, Joseph, Avery, and Ayden; sister-in-law, Kim (Jerry)
Marsh; brother-in-law, David(Samantha) Moore; nephews, Devin
and Austin; nieces, Jennifer and Meaghan; as well as many aunts,
uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; his mother and
father-in-law; his Aunt Mary Terrell; his Uncle Larry Dale McKenzie; and two cousins.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 16, 2014, from 2:00 p.m.
until the time of funeral service at 6:00 p.m. at Davenport Family
Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E Terra Cotta Ave (Rt 176), Crystal
Lake, IL 60014.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Mike's name to Animal
House Animal Shelter at www.animalhouseshelter.com.
