Nancy McMurry

A memorial service for Nancy W.  McMurry (nee White),89, a resident of the Devonshire in Hoffman Estates, will be held at 2 pm, Sunday, July 22, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 202 E. Schaumburg Rd,  Schaumburg.  A reception will follow at the church.  Interment will be private at Little Point Sable, Shelby, MI.

Born March 29, 1923 in Springfield, OH, she passed away peacefully July 9, 2012 at Pepper Family Hospice in Barrington.

Nancy attended Carlton College in Northfield, MN and the University of Wisconsin, in Madison.  She was a homemaker, and later in life Nancy worked as an administrative assistant for AT&T, where she retired in 1988 after 18 years. She was a member of the AT&T Telephone Pioneers, and was active at the Devonshire, and was also an avid sports fan.

Survivors include her children, Steven (Martha) McMurry of Grand Rapids, MI and Jeffrey (Carol) McMurry of Elgin; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.

 She was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Laura (nee Bristol) White, a sister, Elizabeth B. White, and brothers, Ken and Phil White.
