Nancy Smith

Nancy Elizabeth Smith, nee Leddy, of Barrington, formerly of Park Ridge, passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2013, at Prairieview at the Garlands, Barrington. She was born May 5, 1924, in Chicago and was the beloved wife of the late Grant M. Smith.

After her schooling, Nancy worked as a model for Patricia Stevens Modeling Agency in Chicago where she met her husband, Grant. She later became a mother and homemaker during which time she also worked at Marshall Fields for over 15 years. Upon retiring, Nancy dedicated countless volunteer hours at Good Shepherd Hospital in the maternity ward caring for new moms and their infants. She adored the city of Chicago and was an avid Cubs fan. Nancy loved entertaining, taking long walks, visiting her kids, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Nancy was preceded in death by her sister and best friend, Ann (John) Archer. She is survived by her sons, Grant M. Smith III and Tracy L. (Donna) Smith, her daughter, Linda E. Casady; nephew, Jon Archer and niece, Lisa Oswald. She was the cherished Nana of her six grandchildren; Tara, Katie, Alexa, Megan, Danny, and Steve.

A memorial service will be held at Noon, Sunday, November 24, at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main Street (Lake-Cook Rd.), Barrington, 60010. Private Interment will be at Memory Gardens, Arlington Heights.
