Norman Zuckerman

Norman Zuckerman,96, a World War II Veteran, died peacefully, surrounded by his family, in his home from complications of Vascular Dementia on December 28, 2021 in Algonquin.

Norman was the only child born to Emil and Nettie Zuckerman on February 20, 1925 in Oak Park, IL.

A graduate of University of Illinois, Norman served in World War II. He was captured in the Battle of the Bulge and spent over 3 months in Bad Orb Prison Camp in Germany.

He was a member of the Fox Valley Chapter of the American Ex-prisoner of War Association before becoming Illinois State Commander in 1998.

Norman was an accountant/CPA and had his own private practice. His hobbies included stamp and coin collecting, playing cards, writing poems and eating chocolate, Hershey especially.  Norman was a White Sox fan his whole life and enjoyed traveling to multiple ball fields with Marion who was a Cubs fan.

Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Marion (Bosshart/Remack); sons, Stephen, Edward and Leonard; grandchildren, Adam, Jennifer and Matthew; great grandchildren, Keaton and Weston; along with six step children; twelve step grandchildren; and fourteen step great grandchildren.

A special thank you to Norman’s caregivers, Cyle, Pat, Joe and Mireya and family caregivers, Joe, Julie, Monty, Jerry and Phil.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 2, from 1pm until the time of service at 3pm, at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 149 W. Main St., Barrington.  Burial will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, at 10am on Monday, January 3.
