Odilon Garcia Cortez

Odilon Garcia Cortez, 96, of Techaluta de Montenegro, Jalisco, Mexico passed away of natural causes surrounded by his children on June 9, 2022.

Odilon was born January 1, 1926 in Techaluta de Montenegro, Jalisco to Leopoldo Garcia and Ignacia Cortez. He was employed at Valley Mould & Iron Co (Chicago) and retired in 1987. After legally separating from his former wife, Callie Mays, he remarried the late Estela Garcia-Cruz.

Odilon loved soccer and would spend his free time watching soccer games on TV. He played soccer in his youth and enjoyed playing the acoustic guitar and singing. He enjoyed keeping busy by doing work around the house by painting, gardening, and loved cooking. He also enjoyed reading books and the newspaper. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren when he could.

Odilon is survived by his children; Leo Garcia, Johnny Garcia, Odilon Garcia Jr., Martha Garcia, Anna (Rich) Orelik, Lupe (Susana Solórzano) Garcia, and Alicia (Tony) Fritz; and many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Wednesday, June 15, 2022 from 11am till the time of service at 1pm at Davenport Family Funeral Home 149 W Main Street, Barrington.
