Barrington, Illinois,A memorial service for Olivia H. Glatt, nee Holmes, 88, of Barrington since 1967, will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, October 9, 2010 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St. (Lake-Cook Rd.), Barrington, where the family will be receiving friends from 4 p.m. until the time of the service. Born November 21, 1921 in Hoopeston, IL, she passed away peacefully September 4th at Sunrise Assisted Living in Barrington, 6 months to the day after losing her husband Jack E. Glatt, also at the same address. The two had been long time residents of Tower Lakes, North Barrington. She attended Kelvyn Park High School in Chicago. Olivia worked as a secretary at Sunbeam Electric in Chicago. She later worked in administration at the Park Ridge Country Club and then as office manager at Dycast in Lake Zurich. As a newlywed, she lived in Walla Walla, WA where her husband Jack was stationed as a captain in the Army Air Corps. She enjoyed being a homemaker, helping with her husband?s work, gardening, and being a supportive and encouraging mother. Survivors include her daughter Barbara Glatt of Barrington; twin grandsons Nicolas and Christofer (Elizabeth) Glatt; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Glatt; brothers Max and Jack Holmes; and a sister, Julie Dugo, nee Holmes. All of the Holmes were born down in Hoopeston, IL. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Citizens for Conservation, 459 West IL Route 22, Barrington, IL 60010.
