Patricia Morgan Compton, 24, lost her fight with addiction on October 25, 2021 in Rockford, IL. She battled the disease for several years and recently set her sights on being a better mother, building a life with her partner, Todd Carriker, and pursuing a career as an Archeologist.
Born August 27, 1997 to James and Karianne Compton, Patricia grew to love nature and felt a strong connection to the Earth (she always felt “at home” when surrounded by nature). She and her mother spent countless hours scouring the Earth in search of rocks and fossils to add to her vast collection.
Patricia was an outspoken old soul and gifted artist. When she was able to escape the grasp of addiction she loved spending time with her beautiful daughter, camping, attending festivals (especially bluegrass), learned as much as she could about the mushroom species and truly wanted to make a difference in the world.
Patricia is survived by her loving daughter, Vera, 3; parents, James and Karianne Compton; maternal grandfather, Robert (Claudia) Gedmin; aunts and uncles, Robert and Mary Gedmin, Donna and Bill Fak, Joe and Carolyn Compton, and Judith Prangley; and cousins, Ray (Abbie) Compton, Heidi (Rafael) Chavez, Ben Gedmin, Andy (Nicole) Fak, and Connor Fak; half siblings, James, Amy, Lauren, John, Emily… and last but not least, her best friend who never judged her and loved her unconditionally… her cat, Cutie Patootie (CP).
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Dorothy Gedmin; paternal grandparents, Raymond and Hazel Compton; and aunt, Margaret Lilek.
Visitation and funeral are scheduled for Monday, November 1 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave (Route 176) Crystal Lake, IL. Visitation will be open at 11:30AM and funeral service will begin at 2 PM.
Patricia will be returned to the Earth as she requested, with a green burial following the service at Windridge Memorial Park Nature Trail in Cary, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Gateway Foundation, www.gatewayfoundation.org , or to Nicasa, www.nicasa.org to support those still battling addiction.
