Patrick Joseph McManaman

April 1, 1960 — March 6, 2021

Davenport Crystal Lake

Patrick Joseph McManaman, Sr. “Bird”, age 60 of Cary passed away suddenly March 6, 2021. He was born April 1, 1960 in Elgin, the son of James Valentine McManaman and Jane Francis (Purtelle) McManaman.

Patrick was a life-long Cary resident. His career was spent working in the plastics manufacturing and injection molding industry. He met his wife, Helenn (Madam Lopez Zamora) from Chimbote Peru at work and they were married March 27, 1999 in Peru. Always an early riser, he enjoyed his early morning time with his coffee, putzing around the house and working on numerous home improvement projects and yard work. He took pride in the home he owned because it was the home he and his siblings grew up in.

Patrick is survived by his wife Helenn McManaman, Psy D; children, Patrick Joseph “Joe”, Jr. (Michelle Kuber), Piero McManaman and Casey McManaman; siblings, James McManaman, Matthew McManaman, Lisa McManaman and Suzanne McManaman; mother-in-law, Martha Zamora of Peru; sisters and brothers-in- law, Manuel Lopez Zamora, Aldrin Lopez Zamora, Isabel Lopez Zamora, Nina Lopez Zamora, and Jose Lopez Zamora; numerous nieces and nephews; and one great grandniece.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Timothy; sister-in-law, Donna McManaman; and his father-in-law, Panfilo Lopez Pilco.

For anyone who knew Bird, they know he had a good sense of humor when it came to his health. He managed to survive a lot and even succeeded staying COVID free during the pandemic. He joked about what he referred to as an inequitable distribution amongst his siblings of the bad gene pool. This bad gene pool affected him from early on in life and included lifetime facial scarring from having fallen on a glass milk bottle as a toddler, blindness in one eye from a lawnmower accident at the age of 5, a crushed kneecap from an automobile accident as a teenager, open heart surgery, several heart stent placements, a pacemaker placement, skin, lung and trachea cancer. And yet, he always beat the odds and had a sense of humor about what he was going through! Rest easy now, Bird. Fly high!
