Patti J. Church, 78, of Elgin and formerly of Crystal Lake, passed away peacefully Monday, October 15, 2012 in Elgin.
She was born on March 19, 1934 to Dr. John Compton and Clarice (nee Miller) Purvey in Urbana, Illinois.
Patti lived most of her life in Crystal Lake, graduating from Crystal Lake Central in 1952. She met Donald Church while attending Northwestern University and they married in December of 1953.
Don and Patti were business partners, owning McHenry County Office Machines in Crystal Lake. They were both active members of the local Rotary Club. She was a member of the St. Thomas Choir. Patti was a real estate agent for Prudential Realty until her retirement. In later years she lived at the Greens of Elgin and Heritage Manor in Elgin.
She is survived by her loving children, Jacqui (Dave) Cleave, Linda Tarr, John (Barb) Church and Pete (Cristi) Church; dear grandchildren, Josh, Thomas, Peter, Justin, Nate, Rachel, Matt, Raleigh, Greer, Sid, and CiCi; great-grand daughter Maddy; brothers, Mike (Janet) Purvey and Al (Sue) Purvey; sisters, Lynn (Ken) Bruce and Peg (Tom) Lozynski; sister-in-law Lee Purvey; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Patti was preceded in death by her husband Donald Church; brother John Purvey; and parents.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 19 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 451 W. Terra Cotta Ave. (Rt. 176), Crystal Lake, IL 60014. Burial will be held at Crystal Lake Memorial Park following mass.
