Born August 30, 1961, in Chicago to the late Ralph and Mary (nee Mackey), he passed away Sunday, June 15, 2014, at his home.

Paul was a devout Christian and considered his small group at Prince of Peace his extended family. He was a gentle, sensitive soul and the best loving, attentive husband for Kim. He was a caring father and a dedicated family man. Paul was quick witted with a great sense of humor.

Paul was an exceptional student who attended Luther North High School in Chicago, and received an Associate’s degree in engineering from Triton College. Later in life he attended Harper College and received an Associate’s degree in education with honors. He retired in 2008 from Schaumburg High School and had previously been a plastic injection mold designer for over 25 years. He was a naturalist who enjoyed fishing, hiking, gardening, landscaping, woodworking, photography, and golfing—when he could. He loved to draw, write poems and songs, and play guitar (including giving lessons).

Survivors include his wife, Kimberly (nee Matt), whom he married July 21, 1984, in St. Paul Lutheran Church, Chicago; sons, Michael Haack of Inverness and Kyle Haack of Fox River Grove; brother, James (Kelly) Haack of Omaha, NE; father- and mother-in-law, Lawrence and Carol Matt of Elk Grove Village; sister-in-laws, Sue (Marty) Colgan of Palatine, Barbara (Tim) Frank of Janesville, WI, and Diane Matt of Los Angeles, CA; aunts, Luella Reger of Northbrook and Ethel Middleton of Palatine; nieces, Melissa Colgan, Sarah Frank, and Mary (Aaron) Morris; nephews, Mark Colgan, Caleb and Christian Haack, Peter (Laura) and Joshua Frank, and Hunter and Ty Mattox.

In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Maude Begehr and Louise Hoppenrath; and uncle, Wilbur Haack of Arlington Heights.
