Paul Kiser

Paul L. Kiser of Glen Ellyn passed away Monday, April 15, 2013, at the age of 98. He was born to Rev. William and Bessie Kiser on October 24, 1914, in Chicago. Raised in Cicero, he attended Cicero public schools, Morton High School, Morton Junior College, and graduated from the University of Chicago in 1938. He taught English at Shawano, Wisconsin, High School for four years and then returned to his alma mater, Morton High School, teaching English until his retirement in1977.
In l939, Paul married Faye Smith of Cicero and they resided in Oak Park and moved to Glen Ellyn in 1956. He and Faye have been members of Faith Lutheran Church of Glen Ellyn since moving to Glen Ellyn. He was an active member of various Kiwanis Clubs in Oak Park and Glen Ellyn- Wheaton. They were active in the Fourth Nighters couples club and for many years Paul taught an adult Bible class. He and Faye enjoyed motor trips throughout the United States where he practiced his hobby of photography.
Paul is survived by his wife, Faye; son, Kenneth (Carol) of Rensselaer, New York, daughter- in- law, Rosemary Kiser of Barrington; grandchildren, Kristin(Marc) Attenberg of New York City, Laura(Chris) White of New York City, William(Lisa) Kiser of Vernon Hills, Jennifer(Jared) Nehmer of Racine, Wisconsin, Kimberly Gorman of Kenosha, Wisconsin; six great grandchildren; brother John(Doris)Kiser of Westmont; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents; son, Robert; sister, Lois Kiser; and sister- in- law, Lucetta Thompson.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 41 N. Park Blvd., Glen Ellyn, IL 60137, where the family will be receiving friends after the service. Inurnment will be private at Forest Hill Cemetery, Glen Ellyn.
