Paul Joseph Sheedy, 83, of Barrington, Illinois, passed away on Monday, August 23, 2021. Paul was born on November 30, 1937 in his hometown of Chicago to the late Paul Flynn and Anna (nee Hayes) Sheedy. He was a graduate of Mount Carmel High School and Loyola University where he was a standout basketball player earning enshrinement in Loyola’s Athletic Hall of Fame. Upon graduation in 1959, Paul joined IBM and embarked on a successful business career spanning 40 years, including twice launching his own businesses. Paul enjoyed traveling, golfing, doing puzzles, reading, and brunching daily at Egg Harbor. More than anything, he loved his family who were there to support him as he battled illness up to the very end. Paul was the beloved husband of Mary Lou (nee DiVito) for 62 years; loving father of Cheryl (Rich) Falbo, Paul Jr. (Emilie), Donna (Warren) Denniston, and Michael (Melissa); “Grandpa” of eleven grandchildren: Lindsay (Jeff), Taryn (George), Shaun, Abigail, Caroline, Matthew, Madeline, Sam, Andrew, Danny, and Morgan; "Pops" of three great-grandsons: Anthony, Nico, and Luca; and fond brother of Elizabeth (Paul) Nelson, the late Mary (William) Doyle, and James (Gayle).
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 26, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Old Rand Road, Lake Zurich, IL. On Friday, August 27, a Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30am at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 33 S. Buesching Road, Lake Zurich, IL. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Barrington, IL.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made directly to the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org/donate.
