Paula L. Horwath

Paula L. Horwath, of Marengo, formerly of Schaumburg, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at the age of 71.

She was born May 1, 1947 in Chicago, the daughter of Henry and Ann (nee Calvaruso) Damato.

Paula will be remembered for her love of the simple pleasures in life:  family, gardening and antiquing.  Family and friends enjoyed many celebrations and gatherings at the home she and her beloved husband built on open acres. During the quieter times, she enjoyed sunrises, summer breezes, and the flora and fauna of the country, especially her wildflower garden.  When out and about, Paula could always be found looking for that unique antique that would set her collection apart from others. She had a passion for keeping the past alive as an antique dealer and more importantly as a mother, preserving the family traditions that her daughters and grandchildren will treasure.

In addition to her husband, Robert M. Horwath, whom she married August 27, 1966 in Chicago, she is survived by her daughters, Joanne (Steve) Le Beau of Crystal Lake, Jennifer (Scott) Fuerholzer of Lakewood, and Jessica (Marc Tileston) Schmitt of Naples, FL; and her grandchildren, Matthew, Sarah, Michael, Maximilian, and Gretchen.

The visitation will be held Sunday, July 8, from 4-8 p.m. at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E Terra Cotta Ave (Rt. 176) Crystal Lake. Visiting will continue at the funeral home the following day, Monday, July 9, from 11:30 a.m. until prayers at 12:30 p.m. with procession to follow to St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 451 W Terra Cotta Ave, Crystal Lake, for the funeral Mass at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be private.
