Pauline (Polly) S. Veath, 86, of Barrington, died, Tuesday, November 25, 2014, in Edina, Minnesota, surrounded by her daughters. She was born in Carmi, Illinois on June 24, 1928 to Fred and Edna Speck.

Pauline was the Secretary to the Principal at Barrington High School for many years, using her organizational skills and sense of humor to keep things running. She had a keen sense of fashion in both her dress and in decorating her home. While long time Barrington residents, Pauline and Howard moved to Carpentersville in 1998 where they began morning walks at the mall, making many new friends in the process. Pauline returned to Barrington in 2013.

Pauline is survived by her loving children, Deb (Dan) Martchev, and Barb (Jay Gourlie) Veath; grandchildren, Ivan Marchev, Pavel Marchev, Mike Martchev, Keegan Gourlie (Nathan Austin), and Justin (Patrick Steber) Gourlie, and great - grandchild, Daniel Marchev. She is also survived by loving nieces, nephews, sister-in-law and many longtime friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Howard Veath, parents, sister's Catherine and Evelyn and brother's Georgie Wayne and John.

Visitation will be held from 4p.m., until the time of service at 7p.m., Friday, December 19, 2014, at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 149 W. Main Street, Barrington, IL 60010.

There will be a second visitation held from 10:00a.m until transfer prayers at 10:30a.m., Saturday, December 20, 2014 at the funeral home where a procession will form to White Memorial Cemetery, Barrington for a burial.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Andrew D. Hartwig Music Scholarship Memorial or Barrington High School Alumni Association
