Margaret “Peg” Mary Slowinski, 78 of Crystal Lake, was born September 7, 1946 to the late Harold and Rosemary (nee Sutter) Schlicksup and passed away peacefully on Friday, January 10, 2025.
Peg was the loving mother of Laura (Jerry) Morgan, Robert Slowinski, Jr, and Daniel (Jennifer) Slowinski; adored grandma of Zachary and Tyler Morgan, Anna and Emily Slowinski; beloved sister of Betsy (Howard) Denenberg, Maddy (Mike) Paulson, Laurie (Terry) Brennan, Ann (Vic) Berardi, and Jean (Les) Lipinski; and fond aunt of many nieces and nephews.
Peg was a teacher in Crystal Lake for many years. During her long career she taught at St. Thomas, Canterbury, and Woods Creek Schools. Peg was an exemplary educator who stood out among her peers and she worked tirelessly to meet the needs of every student every day. She had a gift for making students feel special and had a talent for helping each and every individual reach their fullest potential. In education today we often refer to the quote below as a reminder of the importance of the relationships that are built with students.
“When a child walks in the room.. does your face light up?”
Peg’s face always lit up when students walked in, letting them know how special and important they were and she left a lasting impression on their lives.
That gift of making people feel special flourished once she became a grandmother. There was nothing better than reading book after book to her grandchildren, creating a scavenger hunt, or planning a sleepover. She spent countless hours with Zach, Tyler, Anna, and Emily and loved every minute of it.
Peg was a person that had a tremendous impact on the people in her life, she was an incredible mother and grandmother, and will be remembered for her kindness and compassion for all.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Slowinski Sr.; and her sister, Carol Schlicksup.
