The Mass of Christian Burial for Peter Leon Mehalic, 82, will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, October 18, at St. Anne Church, 120 N. Ela St. (at the corner of Franklin St.), Barrington, where he will lie in state from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass. Father Jack Dewes will officiate.
There will also be a visitation from 3-8 p.m., Thursday, October 17, at the Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St. (Lake-Cook Road), Barrington.
Born May 25, 1931, in Imperial, PA, he passed away peacefully, Sunday, October 13, 2013, in Chicago.
Leon was a graduate of Northwestern University and the owner of Industrial Steel Service Center.
He loved his wife dearly, was a wonderful husband and father of 11 children, great outdoorsman and a man who approached life with tenacity and integrity.
Leon is survived by his wife, Bonnie Jean (nee Classen), whom he married September 2, 1950, in Hobart, IN; children, Carol (Richard) Williams, Doretta (James) Kreicha, Debbie (Ralph) Sieja, Mark (Fran), Teresa (Jeff) Landa, Craig (Theresa), Claudia (Glen) Garritson, Mary (Robert) Schuerg, Christine (Karsten) Koehler, and Jeffrey; 29 loving grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; and sister, Connie.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sharon Zogelman; parents, Peter and Doretta; and sisters, Doretta and Beverly.
