Phyllis R. Babbs (nee Catalano), 88, of Harwood Heights, formerly of Barrington and Roselle, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2023. She was born on January 21, 1935 in Chicago to the late Anthony and Lucille (nee Blasuccio) Catalano.
On January 17, 1953 she was united in marriage to Clifford E. Babbs of Vandallia, IL at St. Walter Catholic Church in Roselle. Before his passing in 2003, Phyllis and Clifford celebrated 50 beautiful years of marriage.
Phyllis was an active member of Saint Anne Catholic Community, where she served as a bereavement minister. She was also a member of the Bible Group, the Tuesday Morning Book Group and dedicated many years of her life to volunteer work. Later in life, Phyllis was very involved in her grandchildren’s education at Union Ridge School where her grandson, Vinny, now teaches.
Phyllis will be deeply missed by her children, Michelle Babbs of Hudson, WI., Rebecca Snobeck of Yorkville, IL, Barry Babbs of Roselle, IL, and Colette (Bob) Scaletta of Harwood Heights, IL; grandchildren, Richard Jr.(Robin) Rodriguez, and Renee (Scott) Aikins, Anthony, Jennifer (John) Anders, Betsy (Jacob) Williams, Vinny and Nicky Scaletta, and Anthony Snobeck; great-grandchildren, Brighton and Kaleigh Rodriguez, Parker, Owen, Mason and Ella Aikins, Marshall and Garrett Williams, Nathan, Lydia and Bethany Anders and Ian Snobeck.
In addition to her husband, Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Genevieve V. Crawford.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main Street, (Lake-Cook Road), Barrington.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday at 11 a.m., at St. Anne Catholic Church, 120 N. Ela Street, (corner of Franklin and Ela Sts., Barrington), where the family will be receiving friends from 10 a.m., until the time of the mass.
Interment will be private at Evergreen Cemetery, Barrington.
