Phyllis J. Brownell (nee Widegren), 79, of McHenry, went home to her Lord on July 25, 2014. She was born November 23, 1934 in Chicago to Harry and Verna (nee Carlson) Widegren. On January 28, 1956 she married her soul mate, Robert Brownell. Together they raised 2 children, Robert Jr. and Kelly. For 18 years she drove school bus for Prairie Grove School and also worked alongside her husband at the Cary Dairy.
Phyllis loved to travel across the country in their RV with Daytona Beach being one of their favorite stops. She also enjoyed many years of bowling on her Thursday night ladies league. Phyllis loved holidays with Christmas being her most cherished family day.
Besides her husband of almost 59 years, Robert, she is survived by her children, Robert Jr. (Mary) Brownell and Kelly (Dan) Sandberg; grandchildren, Tracy (Matt) Lekawa, Danielle (fiancé Jeffrey) Olson, Tim Brownell, and Cole Sandberg; sister, Gail (late Tom) Lindell; sister-in-law, MaryAnn (late Arthur) Brownell; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation for Phyllis will be Monday, July 28th, from 4pm-8pm at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E Terra Cotta (Rt 176), Crystal Lake, IL 60014. Funeral service will be at 10am on Tuesday, July 29th, at Living Grace Community Church, 1500 Silver Lake Rd., Cary, IL 60013. Burial will follow at Windridge Memorial Park in Cary.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Phyllis’ name can be made to her church, Living Grace (see address above).
