Phyllis L. Tichy

Phyllis L. Tichy, of Barrington, passed away Thursday, August 16, 2018 at the age of 89.
She was born March 6, 1929 in Burlington, WI, the daughter of the late Elsie and Bernard Elverman.

Phyllis is survived by her loving children, Marcia (Spiro) Thomas; JoAnn (Jerry) Hall, John (Kathy) Tichy, Paul (Mary) Tichy and daughter-in-law, Connie Tichy; her cherished grandchildren, Jill Tichy (Dave Bhattacharya), Jordyn (Kirk) Matthews, Clinton (Shannon) Austin, Christopher Austin, Carri (Gabe) Nava, Nolan, Nash and Blake Tichy, Deborah (Lawrence) Nelson, Samantha Hall, Kelly, Kristen and Kimberly Makaipo; her thirteen great-grandchildren; her siblings, Harold (Marilyn) Elverman, James Elverman and Charlene Elverman; and her numerous nieces and nephews.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edward; loving son, Allan; and brothers, Roger, Sheldon and Benjamin Elverman.

Phyllis lived her entire adult life in Barrington. She was a long-time member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church and loved her church family. Phyllis worked in the office supply business for 40 years. She loved to bowl, play bridge and other card games. She was a devoted Cubs, Bulls, and Bears fan and especially a fan of her sons’ sports. Remembered by many for her always smiling face, Phyllis was a devoted friend to many and will be dearly missed by her family and friends whose lives she touched.

Visitation will be held Sunday, August 19, from 3-7 p.m. at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 South Old Rand Rd, Lake Zurich, IL 60047. The funeral service will be held the following day, Monday, August 20 at 11 a.m. at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 720 Dundee Ave, Barrington, with visiting beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Barrington.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Phyllis’ memory may be made to St. Matthew Lutheran Church.
