The funeral service for Randall R. Gross,66, of Barrington, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Lutheran Church of the Atonement, 909 W Main St. (Lake-Cook Rd), Barrington, where he will lie in state from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be private in Evergreen Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 3-8 p.m., Friday at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W Main St. (Lake –Cook Rd.), Barrington.
Born April 26, 1946 in Chicago, IL, he passed away July 17,2012, in Barrington, IL. Randy graduated from Mt. Prospect High School in 1964, Luther College in 1968, and later earned his MBA from Northern Illinois University. He worked as a CPA for Culligan and later started his own firm, Randall Gross and Company Ltd. in Barrington. He was a member of the Barrington Lions Club and served as a board member for Friendship Village and Hospice of Northeastern Illinois. Randy served in the US Army Reserves and was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Atonement. He was an avid reader, loved his work, walks with his dog , Gracie, weekends in Door County, riding bikes and fishing at Anderson Dock in Ephraim, WI.
He is survived by his wife, Karen J. (nee Knutson), who he married June 21, 1970; sons, Matthew (Sara Urevig), and Christopher (Kristin) Gross; grandchildren, Oletta Jane and Lucy June Gross and one on the way; sister –in-law, Joan Wolfgram, brothers-in-law, Daniel Wolfgram, Lynn Knutson; niece, Alison (Grant) Wolfgram Duke and one on the way; nephews, Andrew (Liz) Wolfgram, Jay (Maggie) Wolfgram; and cousin, Donald Wiley.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Elizabeth (nee Dettmann) Gross, and an aunt, Myrtle Wiley.
