Randy J Ulery

Randy J. Ulery, 62, of Lake in the Hills, IL, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 31, 2019 with his loving family by his side. He was born in Rockford, IL on February 13, 1957 to Donald W. Ulery Sr. and Barbara E. (Ulery) Barber.

Randy joined the U.S. Army in 1974 serving his country for 6 years. Randy married Mary Ann Cole on July 1, 1978. Theirs was a story of true love for more than 41 years. He was a wonderful and loving father to his two sons Brian and Matthew, they were his pride and joy. Randy was employed by GE Healthcare in Medical Service Imaging for 35 years. In his global leadership role he was admired for his incredible work ethic, problem solving abilities, positive attitude, and his great sense of humor. His ability to see the best in people inspired many. Randy was a bright light to all who knew and loved him. He was an avid athlete for more than 40 years. He was an accomplished endurance athlete as a distance runner and triathlete. For more than 16 months Randy demonstrated great courage, bravery and strength while running his final marathon against pancreatic cancer. Randy now runs pain free as an angel in Heaven. He was a member of Barrington United Methodist Church where he found solace in the Lord God. He loved his 2 dogs Britta and Brody.

Randy is survived by his loving wife Mary Ann, sons Brian Ulery, Matthew Ulery, daughter-in-law Devin Ulery; his parents Donald W. Ulery Sr. and Barbara Barber; siblings Donald Ulery Jr., Michelle Holm, Judy Carter, Bill (Beth) Boyle, Jim Boyle; sister-in-law Kathy (Henry) Villarreal; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family would like to thank Dr. Thomas Weyburn, Jill Behm, N.P., Lisa C., R.N., and Rachel G. of Advocate Medical Group Oncology in Crystal Lake. Randy’s family wishes to extend their most sincere gratitude to the staff of JourneyCare CareCenter in Barrington, IL.
A memorial service and celebration of Randy’s life will be held Saturday, November 16, 2019 at Barrington United Methodist Church, 98 Algonquin Rd., Barrington, IL 60010. Visitation will be from 1:30 – 3:00 p.m., service will be at 3:00 p.m. with meal to follow. Interment at Barrington United Methodist Church columbarium.
